Dear professor Alexander Korsantia,

My name is Kathleen Y. Kim from Korea. I applied New England Conservatory as a BM degree seeking student and got a live audition invitation letter from your school a few days ago. I will arrive in Boston on 8th of February and would like to have a trial lesson from you if possible.

Since you are my number one priority professor in NEC, it will be a great honor for me to take a pre-trial lesson from you.

My audition date is set up on 13th of February; therefore, any time on February 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th will be fine. It will be greatly appreciated if you notify your availability on these days to me in advance. Thank you very much and look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely yours,

Dear Daniel:

Thank you for inviting me for your live audition. I am writing this e-mail because I have questions to ask. I have a question as follows:

Q: Since I am an international student, I will not be able to bring accompanist with me. According to Butlers audition information, the school provides an accompanist only to voice/ opera students. If so, what strings major student like me has to do as far as accompanist is concerned? Do I suppose to perform without accompanist? I need an advice on this from you.

Sincerely yours,

Kathleen Y. Kim, BM violin applicant

Dear professor Lewis:

Thank you for your letter and kind offer. I will stay with my friend until February 1st. So, I will be available on both of days. My US phone will

be available on 24th of February. I will give you the number once I get the number. Thank you.

Sincerely yours,

Jin Young Song, MM applicant

Voice & Opera

Dear Professor Amy Burton:

How have you been? Now I am in Korea, taking a happy break. As you may know, I received an offer of admission from Mannes, the New

School for Music. Above all, I am very glad that I am assigned to you!!! I want to thank you for your warmest consideration. I know it is pretty hard to get into your studio.

One thing I am wondering about is the scholarship matter. Based on the mail from your school, they were not able to offer a scholarship due to either the level of my score and/or the specific needs of the department. I just want to know that my mistake in the live audition (short

pausing, you might remember^^) affect the scholarship decision. As far as the TOEFL and GPA are concerned, I don’t think I have a serious

problem. I just want to know what were the most influential factor for my scholarship decision and no offense for the decision.

I also want to know more about the music camp you mentioned to me before. I looked up your web site and found out there are 3 music

camps held in France, Japan, and China. Which one did you mention? And I want to get more information on this. Thank you again and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Very truly yours,

Kathleen Y. Kim, Voice student
