Keyboard Audition Requirements

Scholarship Consideration
Students who audition after February 9, 2019  will not be eligible for merit scholarship consideration.

 

Piano (MM)

  • One large work by J.S. Bach
  • One Complete classical Sonata
  • One large work from the 19th Century
  •  One Etude by Chopin, Debussy, Liszt or Rachmaninoff

 

Auditions via DVD or video links are accepted. Please contact piano professor Dmitri Shteinberg at shteinbergd@uncsa.edu before submitting a video link or with any audition questions.

 

Collaborative Piano (MM)

Applicants should contact Dr. Allison Gagnon, director of the Collaborative Piano program, to finalize repertoire selection and partnering arrangements for the live audition . The audition should include:

  • At least one selection with voice
  • At least one selection with instrument
  • One solo piano selection

 

The program should present a variety of musical styles and collaborative situations. The audition will also include a short quick-study (music provided within 24 hours prepared on site with a partner), sight-reading, and a short interview.

Organ (MM)

  • A major free work by J.S. Bach (including the trio sonatas)
  • A composition from the Romantic period
  • A composition from the 20th-21st century
  • A hymn played as if leading a congregation
