A complete concerto or solo piece with piano

Audition Repertoire

Two études showing the applicant's level of technical and musical ability

1. At least one major solo work of the applicant's choice performed from memory
2. A complete concerto from the standard repertoire performed from memory
3. A representative number of standard orchestral excerpts

Flute (MM)

Prescreen Repertoire

All applicants for the flute concentration must submit a preliminary audition recording via Acceptd. On the basis of this prescreening, they may be invited to the required live audition. Flute applicants currently enrolled in the College and Prep Honors program are not prescreened.

The prescreening recording must include the following repertoire only, which should be recorded with accompaniment:

1. Mozart: Exposition of the 1st and 2nd movements of the G or D Major concerto (with accompaniment).
2. A contrasting piece of the applicant's choice (with accompaniment).
3. Orchestral excerpts: Applicant picks three from the following list.
          Beethoven: "Eroica" Symphony, last movement-measures 172-200
          Beethoven: Leonore Overture No. 3-measures 328-360
          Brahms: Symphony No. 4, last movement-measures 93-105
          Debussy: Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun-measures 1-4
          Mendelssohn: Scherzo from A Midsummer Night's Dream-two measures before P to the end

1. Two major solo works of contrasting styles

 

2. Five standard orchestral excerpts
