Brass Audition Information

Prescreening recordings may be submitted online as either audio or video. These are the repertoire requirements for applicants of the Undergraduate Double Degree, US-China Music Institute, and Advanced Performance Studies program.

Please note that piano accompaniment is not provided, and is not required, for final auditions.

Trumpet (BM)

              Precreeening Repertoire:

o    An étude

o    A concerto or sonata movement

o    A work of your choice

Final Audition Repertoire:
 

o    An etude

o    A concerto or sonata movement

o    A 20th-century work

o    A work of your choice

Horn (BM)

Prescreening and Final Audition Repertoire:

o    An étude

o    A concerto movement

       And two of the following excerpts:

o    Wagner: Short Call from Siegfried's Rheinfahrt

o    Ravel: Pavane pour une infante défunte

o    Shostakovich: Low tutti from Symphony No. 5 (1st movement)

o    Brahms: Symphony No. 3 (3rd movement)

o    Strauss: Ein Heldenleben (opening)

Trombone (BM)
