Woodwinds Audition Information

Flute (MM)

Candidates will be asked to perform the following:

​

• - 1st movement of the Mozart G or D concerto, including cadenza
• - 1 movement of a 20th or 21st century sonata
• - 1 piece of your choice
• - 3 orchestral excerpts chosen from the following:

• Daphnis and Chloe, Symphonic Metamorphosis, Brahms 4###sup/sup###, Leonore #3, Mendelssohn's Scherzo, or Carnival of the Animals

Clarinet (MM)

Candidates will be asked to perform the following:

​

• - Major and minor scales from Baermann Book III
• - Sightreading
• - Mozart Concerto - Exposition of Mvt. 1 and Mvt 2 (entire)
• - Two contrasting etudes from the following list of composers: Cavallini, Rose, or Jeanjean
• - A selection of your choice

Oboe, Saxophone and Bassoon (MM)

Candidates are required to perform four pieces of varied styles and periods.

Repertoire may be solos or etudes written for the instrument.

All instrumental auditions will include sight-reading.
