Voice Audition Information

 

 

Trumpet, Trombone (BM & MA)

 

l  Audition/tape material 10-15 minutes in length.  

l  For live auditions: informal setting 3-4 brass Faculty present 

l  An accompanist is not necessary.  

l  Criteria: all major scales 

l  An allegro etude or solo 

l  A lyrical slow etude or solo 

l  Jazz improvisation (if desired by student) 

l  Sight reading 

l  Any tape from previous concerts or solo performances which demonstrates student’s ability. 

 

 

Horn (BM & MA)

 

Audition Requirements

 

l  Major scales in two octaves 

l  Sight-reading 

l  Two contrasting movements from works that are comparable in difficulty to the following samples: 

ü  Mozart – Concerto No. 2, 3, or 4 

ü  F. Strauss –Nocturno 

ü  R. Strauss – Concerto No. 1) 

Or  

Two contrasting etudes by Gallay, Kopprasch or Maxime Alphonse 

 

 

Euphonium (BM & MA) 

 

l  Major scales 

l  Sight-reading 

l  A solo piece chosen from the following:  

ü  Guilmant’s Morceau Symphonique,  

ü  Capuzzi’s Andante and Rondo from Concerto for Double Bass,  

ü  Hutchison’s Sonatina,  

ü  Curnow’s Rhapsody for Euphonium, or Telemann’s Sonata in F Minor 

Or  

Two contrasting etudes from Rochut, Arban, or Tyrell

Tuba (BM & MA)  

 

l  Major scales 

l  Sight-reading 

l  A solo piece chosen from the following:  

ü  Lebedev’s Concerto in One Movement,  

ü  Haddad’s Suite for Tuba, 

ü  Bach’s Air and Bouree, or Capuzzi’s Andante and Rondo from Concerto for Double Bass 

Or  

Two contrasting etudes from Bordogni, Tyrell, or Blazhevich
